Hivemind Communications Values Statement

The UN's Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights state the following: "As the basis for embedding their responsibility to respect human rights, business enterprises should express their commitment to meet this responsibility through a statement of policy."

HiveMind respects the fundamental human, cultural and legal rights of all individuals and communities and we promote the goals and principles of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights in our work. This means:

  • We are pro-science. In our work we will not defend stances that go against overwhelming scientific consensus, such as climate change denial. Nor will we defend fraudulent medical claims.

  • We strive to build a world where people of different races, genders, sexualities, nationalities and economic backgrounds all have equal opportunity to succeed.

  • We do not work with institutions that contravene this principle, such as (but not limited to): The private prison industry, which disproportionately incarcerates Black Americans; companies that condone xenophobic and racist immigration policies that hurt families and communities; and companies that don't support equal rights for people of all genders. Further, we believe that all girls, women and individuals who identify as LGTBQ+A have fundamental reproductive rights and personal autonomy.

  • In addition, as mass shootings continue to devastate communities across the country and gun violence disproportionately affects people of color, Hippo states unequivocally that gun violence is not in line with our values. We will not partner with companies that ignore the research that supports stricter gun laws.

  • Following the lead of the UN's Division of Environmental Law and Conventions, we adhere to the belief that the environment is a prerequisite for the enjoyment of human life. Therefore, we support companies and governments with strong pro-environmental and ethical investing policies (e.g., ESG investing) and organizations that support indigenous peoples rights.

  • We pay a fair wage to freelancers who work with us, and are transparent about the cost of our services with our clients.

We always reserve the right to refer a prospective client to other vendors if we feel that our core beliefs will interfere with providing the utmost quality of service.

We are proud to partner with clients who also support human rights, and we are happy to offer advisory services to organizations who are interested in updating their company policies to reflect the unique needs of a fairer, more egalitarian 21st century.
